Regression Tests for Environments:
UAT/DEV/PRE-PROD

Pre-deployment functional verification forweb and mobile apps, using automated test scenarios.

Test before you deploy

» Is the new version compliant with the defined scope?«
» Have the planned changes negatively affected existing functionality?«
» Is the defined test scenario executable?«

As part of Monit24 RegAppCheck, we verify your web or mobile application (iOS/Android) in UAT/DEV/PRE-PROD environments, providing video recordings of each executed test scenario along with information on any encountered issues.

Run ad-hoc tests in the Monit24 panel, set a schedule, or integrate test execution with your CI/CD process.

How does monitoring differ from regression testing?

Regression test with scenarios

Environments: DEV/UAT/PRE-PROD.

What’s included
Objective
Detects any issues affecting the customer’s ability to use the service, from server, network, DNS, and site elements, to SSL, key button clicks, product searches, adding items to the cart, and completing transactions.
Frequency
Runs frequently (every 1–60 minutes) around the clock (24/7/365). This ensures rapid reaction to issues before customers notice.
Environments
Typically covers production (PROD) systems that customers use continuously to make transactions and access e-services. If these systems fail, clients cannot use the application.
System Feedback
Provides information for application and infrastructure maintenance teams to identify problems and react quickly. Periodic reports allow management to verify downtime and enforce SLAs.
Locations
Executed from multiple locations and different connections to confirm detected events (avoiding false positives) and expand observability from various operators, countries, and connection types.
Scenario editing
Scenario updates are infrequent — weekly, monthly, or even quarterly. Production changes are less dynamic. Monit24 typically manages creation and updates as part of the service.
Alerts and Notifications
Immediate notifications of detected problems, often via multiple channels (email, SMS, messenger), with escalation rules for different teams depending on incident duration or type.
Integrations
Possible integration with the client’s incident management systems, e.g., SIEM/SOAR, to forward detected events.
Scope
Usually covers a few key scenarios, each with several steps checking core business processes (e.g., purchasing a product). Focuses on main flows: filling out a form → calculating insurance → logging in → generating an order. Typically 1–3 scenarios per service/application, up to 15 steps each.
Requirements
Scenarios may require real data, real transactions (and rollbacks). Sometimes dedicated environments are needed (e.g., hardware tokens, certificates, mobile authorization). Monit24 usually provides required resources.
Mobile application Updates
Can automate downloading and installing the latest tested app version from the app store.
Service Level
Monit24 service must operate continuously with high SLA (>99.99%) 24/7/365.
Support
Often involves root cause analysis, helping clients identify the source of issues. Requires managing service windows and SLA adjustments.

ObjectiveDetects any issues affecting the customer’s ability to use the service, from server, network, DNS, and site elements, to SSL, key button clicks, product searches, adding items to the cart, and completing transactions.Confirms whether the new version of the service is compliant with the functional baseline and ensures existing features have not been broken. Focus is on the application itself, not infrastructure issues (e.g., temporary unavailability of DEV).
FrequencyRuns frequently (every 1–60 minutes) around the clock (24/7/365). This ensures rapid reaction to issues before customers notice. Can be less frequent (e.g., once per hour) or unscheduled — executed ad hoc or automatically triggered in testing or CI/CD processes.
EnvironmentsTypically covers production (PROD) systems that customers use continuously to make transactions and access e-services. If these systems fail, clients cannot use the application.Validates versions of the application/website in development or test environments (DEV or UAT/PRE-PROD).
System FeedbackProvides information for application and infrastructure maintenance teams to identify problems and react quickly. Periodic reports allow management to verify downtime and enforce SLAs.Provides feedback for developers and testers during the development and testing of new software versions, highlighting potential inconsistencies with requirements/specifications.
LocationsExecuted from multiple locations and different connections to confirm detected events (avoiding false positives) and expand observability from various operators, countries, and connection types.Executed from a single location. Scenario outcome does not depend on source location.
Scenario editingScenario updates are infrequent — weekly, monthly, or even quarterly. Production changes are less dynamic. Monit24 typically manages creation and updates as part of the service.Updates are more frequent — sometimes several times a day. Monit24 also handles scenario creation and updates within the service.
Alerts and NotificationsImmediate notifications of detected problems, often via multiple channels (email, SMS, messenger), with escalation rules for different teams depending on incident duration or type.Usually sufficient to review results in the Monit24 panel to verify if the test passed and to access reports with detected issues.
IntegrationsPossible integration with the client’s incident management systems, e.g., SIEM/SOAR, to forward detected events.Automated test execution and result verification integrated into the client’s CI/CD process.
ScopeUsually covers a few key scenarios, each with several steps checking core business processes (e.g., purchasing a product). Focuses on main flows: filling out a form → calculating insurance → logging in → generating an order. Typically 1–3 scenarios per service/application, up to 15 steps each.Often covers many functionalities, tabs, buttons, screens, and subpages. One test scenario may include dozens of steps to check as many objects as possible. Usually more scenarios than in monitoring — typically 1–10 scenarios with dozens of actions/steps each.
RequirementsScenarios may require real data, real transactions (and rollbacks). Sometimes dedicated environments are needed (e.g., hardware tokens, certificates, mobile authorization). Monit24 usually provides required resources.Test data is usually supplied by the client. DEV/UAT/PRE-PROD environments make it easier to create test accounts or use fictitious funds for test transactions. These environments can also be reset easily.
Mobile application UpdatesCan automate downloading and installing the latest tested app version from the app store.May require access to versions not yet visible in app stores and more frequent updates, e.g., via TestFlight.
Service LevelMonit24 service must operate continuously with high SLA (>99.99%) 24/7/365.SLA is usually not defined. Occasional service interruptions (especially outside developer/tester working hours) are not critical.
SupportOften involves root cause analysis, helping clients identify the source of issues. Requires managing service windows and SLA adjustments.Support mainly covers scenario updates and consulting on test scope, selection of tested elements, and updates.
